  • Vince Gray has named his transition team, and it is full of friendly faces for the Mayor-elect. Among the highlights: D.C. Chamber of Commerce CEO Barbara Lang and former George Washington University president Stephen Joel Trachtenberg will guide economics, former D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams and noted policy expert Alice Rivlin will guide fiscal responsibility; and Reuben Charles will run the day-to-day of the transition. Speaking of Charles, Alan Suderman digs into the finances of Gray’s rumored choice for chief of staff and finds that he owes more than $236,000 in back taxes to the state of Illinois.
  • It appears as if yesterday’s three-alarm fire inside an apartment building at 1444 Rhode Island Avenue NW was caused by unattended candles. The fire caused $250,000 in damage.
