We noted in Friday’s Weekly Feed that celebrity chef Bobby Flay will be the latest to throw his toque into the D.C. burger craze, as he plans on opening a branch of his Bobby’s Burger Palace chain at 2121 K Street NW. Now, the fact that burger joints are taking over this town is hardly a new gripe for our beloved commentariat — but we thought that it might be appropriate to highlight the insanity which comes up when a market like ours is saturated with restaurants all specializing in the same menu item. Behold, the trademarked “Crunchburger“!
Eater dug up the trademark documents which outline Flay’s plan to offer an hamburger with “a handful of potato chips between the burger and bun,” surely one of the most groundbreaking culinary developments of the last fifty years.
One can only imagine what Flay will trademark next. Mixing Neapolitan ice cream into a soup? Taking a little bit of each available cola at the fast food fountain? The options are endless!
