MONDAY

She’s got a lot of the same sass as her pal (and fellow Myspace-bred star) Lily Allen, but Kate Nash‘s poppy piano tunes have a distinctly soulful bent to them. The London singer-songwriter will be stopping by the 9:30 Club tonight with opener Peggy Sue. $20, 7:00 p.m.

>> Iota: The Autumn Defense, Sarah Lee Guthrie, Johnny Irion. $15, 8:00 p.m.
>> Black Cat: Glasser, Twin Shadow. $10, 9:00 p.m.

TUESDAY

Grinderman isn’t just an additional songwriting outlet for dark, poetic Aussie rocker Nick Cave, but also for his band The Bad Seeds. But while the lineup remains the same, the songs have very different roots, speaking more to dirty, gritty blues influences than any of Cave’s more melodic fare. There’s more than a little bit of George Thoroughgood and the Rolling Stones powering these songs. Grinderman will be returning to the venue of the last two Bad Seeds shows in the area: the 9:30 Club. Armen Ra opens. $30, 7:00 p.m.

>> Black Cat: Tame Impala, Stardeath & White Dwarves, Kuroma. $15, 8:00 p.m.
>> Rock and Roll Hotel: Jenny Owen Youngs, Paul Dempsey. $10 in advance/$12 day of show, 8:30 p.m.
>> Jammin’ Java: Atlantic/Pacific, Duke Walker, Aaron Thompson. $10, 7:30 p.m.
>> Sixth & I Synagogue: Fistful of Mercy, Alain Johannes. Sold out, 8:00 p.m.
