During a hearing this morning, the D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Board unanimously denied a motion for reconsideration to reopen DC9. The board appears to have had concerns about reopening the club while the results of the medical examiner’s report were still pending. Certainly a frustrating day for supporters of the club — another ABRA hearing, scheduled for December 1, will reportedly revisit the motion. Five employees of the club had been arrested for allegedly beating Ali Ahmed Mohammed to death after an altercation on October 15, but those charges were dropped, perhaps temporarily, on November 5.
