MOVIE: The Embassy of Iceland presents a screening of the film Mr. Bjarnfredarson, which stars comedian Jon Gnarr, who is also currently the mayor of Reykjavik (he achieved this by creating The Best Party and making awesome promises). The film will be shown at the Avalon Theater (5612 Connecticut Avenue NW) and will be followed by a question and answer session with the director, Ragnar Bragason. 8 p.m. Free.
LECTURE: The National Zoo (3001 Connecticut Avenue NW) hosts a lecture on “Gorillas to Grizzlies: Conservation in Action From Africa to the United States,” featuring ecologists Bill Weber and Amy Vedder, authors of the book In the Kingdom of Gorillas. The lecture runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m., followed by a cash bar from 8-9 p.m. Free, but RSVP requested.
