The AP (via WTOP) is reporting that a 92-year-old woman, who suffered severe burns in a house fire over the weekend, has now died. Ida Thompson, who was caught on the second floor of a home at 400 Luray Place NW on Friday evening, succumbed to her injuries at the nearby Washington Hospital Center today. Thompson had suffered smoke inhalation and burns before she was rescued from the building by firefighters. D.C. Fire and EMS spokesperson Pete Piringer told the wire service that Thompson is the eighth person to die due to a home fire in the District this year — 19 people were killed in home fires in 2009.
