Redskins running back Clinton Portis has reportedly been placed on injured reserve by the team, ending his season — and, more likely than not, his career with the Redskins. Portis has logged 6,824 yards and 46 rushing touchdowns on the ground for Washington in his seven years with the team — though he only played anything close to a full season in four of those years, and has only appeared in 13 of the team’s last 26 games.

We don’t want to prematurely write his Redskins obituary — but if Portis is indeed finished in Washington, we will be losing so much more than a serviceable tailback. We’ll lose all of Portis’ beloved characters!

If this is indeed the end of the line, let’s take the chance to wave goodbye to Choo Choo, Southeast Jerome, Sheriff Gonna Getcha, Coach Janky Spanky, The Ghost of Southeast Jerome, Eastern Motors Actor, Bud Foxx, Dr. Do Itch Big, Electra, Prime Minister Yah Mon, Blondie, Swine Flu, Jersey Number Contract Dispute Man, Still Better Than Larry Johnson, 53 Men’s Packages and Phillies Hat.

They will all be missed.
