Good morning, Washington. It’s a big day at the Wilson Building, as the Council will hold its public hearing on the proposed gap-closing budget cuts submitted by Mayor Adrian Fenty last week. More than 160 people are scheduled to testify in the Council chambers, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The list of participants is wide-ranging, representing several segments of Washington life: representatives from the D.C. Fiscal Policy Institute, Save Our Safety Net advocates, spokespeople of charitable organizations, neighborhood business improvement districts, law advocates, Fraternal Order of Police head Kristopher Baumann, politicians, and Sticky Fingers Bakery president Doran Petersan are just some of the people scheduled to tell the Council what they think about the way the city should fix the $188 million budget gap. If you want to watch what will certainly be a marathon hearing, you can do so through the Council’s website.

Police are not sure why Rosa threw the child, her granddaughter, over the railing.

Intercounty Connector Tolls Announced: It’ll cost you $1.45 during peak hours, $1.15 off-peak and 60 cents during overnight hours to ride the new Intercounty Connector. Those sure are some strange amounts for people without E-ZPass, Maryland — would $1.50, $1, and 50 cents have been too simplistic?
