Good morning, Washington. A hot tip: if you happen to stumble upon the Mayor-elect’s wallet, do yourself a favor and just return it to him, instead of, say, stealing one of his credit cards and fraudulently charging $40 in cigarettes and booze on it. Freeman Klopott reports that Tamika Garris, who discovered that Gray had left his wallet on the counter of a CVS at 2646 Naylor Road SE, could have used such advice. Garris was arrested and charged with credit card fraud after finding Gray’s wallet, rifling through it for “several minutes,” plucking out a credit card and forging the Mayor-elect’s signature at both the CVS and a Skyland Liquors at 2101 Savannah Street SE. In other news, every local journalist in town is currently working hard on coming up with misplaced wallet jokes to illustrate future posts on the city’s budgetary woes.

Woman Who Allegedly Killed Toddler Has “History Of Mental Illness”: The Associated Press reports that the woman accused of throwing her two-and-a-half year old granddaughter off an elevated walkway in Tysons Corner has a “history of mental illness.” The report is based on a statement from the public defender assigned to the case — the Post was a little more cautious with the story, saying that Carmela Dela Rosa “faced a series of personal and family stresses in the months leading up” to the incident, including the pregnancy of her daughter and a feud with her son-in-law. Dela Rosa is currently being held in solitary confinement.

Two Pedestrians Struck in Northwest: The Post reports that two people were struck in two separate incidents involving a Metrobus and a taxi last night in Columbia Heights and Adams Morgan, respectively. Preliminary reports from Metro indicate that a man was hit after he ran out in front of a bus at the intersection of 16th Street and Spring Place NW around 10 p.m.; his injuries were non-life-threatening. In the second case, a taxi was reported to have struck an individual at the intersection of Harvard Street and Columbia Road around 11 p.m., but few other details were available.

Ivan Returned Safely: Huzzah! Ivan, an adorable four-month-old pit bull mix who had been snatched from the Washington Humane Society’s dog shelter at 1201 New York Avenue NE on Tuesday, was returned to the shelter yesterday. WHS wasn’t releasing details about the dog’s return, but Ivan appears to be healthy.
