MOVIE: The Capital Irish Film Festival concludes this weekend. Tonight, catch two film roundups at the Goethe-Institut (812 7th Street NW). The first, Darklight Heroes: DC Edition, features selections by David O’Reilly (an animator in Berlin) who has chosen short films, early animation, old television shows and other surprises at 7 p.m. Then, at 9 p.m., check out Darklight: State of the Nation, a collection of films chosen by Nicky Gogan (artistic director of the Darklight Festival) that “reflect Ireland’s current social climate” and show off Irish independent filmmaking. $10 (plus $1 fee) for each roundup.
TALK: Al Jazeera English presents “Keeping the Focus on Haiti,” with correspondent Sebastian Walker and Elise Young of ActionAid speaking on the continuing situation and relief efforts in that country at Busboys and Poets (2021 14th Street NW). 6 p.m. Free.
