MUSIC: Mike Green of the Washington Capitals hosts the Greenlife Rock for Charity event at the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW). There will be performances by G Love and Special Sauce and Billy Woodward and The Senders, with proceeds going to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) and So Kids Can for Kaboom. 8 p.m. $50-$500.

CHRISTMAS: The Columbia Heights Christmas tree lighting at Columbia Heights Plaza (14th and Kenyon Streets NW) is similar to the National Christmas Tree Lighting, except instead of B.B. King and impossible-to-get-tickets, there will be local school choirs and hot chocolate. 6 p.m. Free.

TUESDAY: The Capitol Riverfront Holiday Market (1100 New Jersey Avenue SE) kicks off five days of local arts and crafts sales (including jewelry, pottery, watercolors, photography and more), wreaths and trees from Ginko Gardens and live music. Tuesday-Friday 12-7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

WEDNESDAY: Thanksgiving might be over, but the Red Palace (1210 H Street NE) doesn’t mind. On Wednesday, they’re throwing their 2nd Annual Turducken Fest! Get your fill of turkey stuffed with duck stuffed with chicken at 7 p.m., then stay for a burlesque show at 9 p.m. $15.

THURSDAY: Director John Waters presents his one-man show, A John Waters Christmas, at the Birchmere (3701 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Alexandria). 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $54.50.

FRIDAY: The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington presents Men in Tights: A Pink Nutcracker at Lisner Auditorium (730 21st Street NW) this weekend. Friday, 8 p.m., Saturday 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday 3 p.m. $20-$50.
