• President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were at Harriet Tubman Elementary School in Columbia Heights this morning for the President’s signing of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. Obama was joined by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, several members of Congress, cabinet members and some lucky kids from the school. Check out the video here.

  • Mayor Fenty was late to a press conference on the redesign of Cardozo High School this morning, as usual — but, perhaps in a display of his waning power, the conference simply started without him. Mike DeBonis also tried to get the Mayor on record about the rash of recent governmental departures, but Fenty was only offering platitudes.
  • Oh yes, Alex Ovechkin dropped the gloves last night. Didn’t help the Caps, though — they lost 7-0.
  • Both the number of condos for sale and the amount they are selling for were up in the District over the last year.
  • Apparently, a bunch of people who were planning a public caroling flash mob — which we actually mentioned last week — got angry at TBD’s Dave Jamieson for publishing the schedule of their caroling. Which is, you know, ridiculous.

  • Venerable Washington reporter Tom Sherwood reads the list of Festivus grievances in Adams Morgan. The best part was obviously when Sherwood starts reading a note which mentions love, then says, “Love? We’re not going to have any love.”
