FRIDAY

MOVIES: ‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even…Bruce Willis and a bunch of terrorists. That’s right, the Library of Congress is (awesomely) showing Die Hard tonight, at the Packard Campus Theater (19053 Mount Pony Road, Culpeper, VA), as a part of their Holiday Movie Classics series. Make reservations by calling (540) 827-1079 x79994 or (202) 707-999. 7:30 p.m. Free.

>> Tonight and through this weekend, the AFI Silver Theater (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring) joins in with Holiday Classics showings, including The Muppet Christmas Carol, It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story. Tonight, see the Muppets at 5 p.m., take a journey with George at 7 p.m. and don’t shoot your eye out at 9:45 p.m. $10 each film.

>> It’s A Wonderful Night at Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington) tonight, with a wine tasting, holiday music and, of course, a screening of It’s a Wonderful Life. Proceeds go to Children’s Hospital. As a bonus, anyone dressed as Santa or Mrs. Claus, a reindeer, a character from It’s A Wonderful Life or wearing an ugly Christmas sweater will receive four free movie passes. Wine tasting and holiday jazz will go from 6:15-7:15 p.m., followed by the movie from 7:15-9:30 p.m. $10.

DANCE: Forget traditional classical ballet — instead, catch the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington’s performance, Men in Tights: A Pink Nutcracker, at the Lisner Auditorium (730 21st Street NW) tonight or this weekend. 8 p.m. $25-$50.

FOOD & DRINK: Drink shots of Sink the Bismarck and Tactical Nuclear Penguin, “beers” with outrageously high levels of alcohol in them (30 to 40 percent ABV), at the Black Squirrel‘s (2427 18th Street NW) BrewDog event. In honor of BrewDog brewery’s Scotland location, Chef Gene Sohn will be serving complimentary hors d’oeuvres, like Scotch pie, Scottish eggs and smoked Scottish salmon. 5 p.m.-3 a.m.

MUSIC: Whether you’re a fan of her new material on Funstyle, or still pining for a return to Exile in Guyville, you may want to check out Liz Phair at the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW). U.S. Royalty (***) opens. 8 p.m. $25.

>> Gene Ween and The Blackberry Belles come to the Black Cat (1811 14th Street NW) tonight. 9 p.m. $20.

>> Crimp your hair and hit The Kids in America new wave dance party at Dahlak (1771 U Street NW). There will be your favorite ’80s music, projections of the movies Wall Street and Hot to Trot, mashups, $4 “fancy beers” and more. 10 p.m. Free to get in.
