When he’s not debating solutions to the district’s budget deficit, Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6) may be spending time being one of the hippest councilmen in the city. Sure he drinks Steel Reserve (in spirit). Yup, he loves him some urban chicken. And he wouldn’t mind providing an easier route to revelry on H Street.
In honor of his hipness, we couldn’t help but post this artist’s rendering, approved by the councilman’s office, of Wells’ and Santa Claus’ supposed love child. Or you can see him in person tomorrow from 2 – 4 p.m. in the North Hall of Eastern Market, where Wells will be channeling shades of Clinton Portis and donning a Santa Claus outfit to deliver some “extra special wishes that he’s received from children on Capitol Hill” — candy canes and tote bags for everyone else. The ‘Tommy Claus” visit is part of a larger Winter Market event in Eastern Market on Sunday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., featuring music performances, caroling, holiday wish trees and vendors. If you can’t make it out Sunday, the market runs through to next Friday during special hours.
