So here’s a fun one: the Washington Times reports that WMATA had been giving free transit, holiday pay and uniform-cleaning allowances to an unidentified employee who had been on extended medical leave for 13 years, but never had his Metro identification card voided. Of course, the way that Metro figured it out was priceless: the man was wearing his bus driver uniform when he visited the WMATA general counsel offices to serve a receptionist with court papers, which he was doing to make money on the side. Whoops. Due to the shocking realization that at least one of their employees might not be obeying the honor code, WMATA said that they have “reviewed and updated the records of employees on extended medical leave.”
