Good morning, Washington. So yeah, that snowstorm. The latest models indicate that the D.C. area will be receiving the lower end of snow predicted today – thank Boston, where I am right now, for that – Boston and the rest of the Northeast are expecting blizzard conditions and up to 20 inches of snow. Sorry for stealing all of that from you guys. Capital Weather Gang reports that D.C. and western suburbs will likely be the dividing line between accumulation and just flurries. It appears that right now east of D.C., around the Chesapeake Bay, will get the most accumulation.

>> Virginia and Maryland have already declared a state of emergency, mostly to make clearing snow easier. Mayor Fenty has announced that D.C. will send out all 160 of their snowplows on their routes by 10 a.m. Sunday. All officials are stating the obvious right now: don’t go anywhere unless it’s absolutely necessary. There is no state of emergency in D.C. right now, which means that cabbies have to charge you regular fares.

>> The threat of the storm has already lead to hundreds of flights cancelled, especially given the blizzard conditions expected in the Northeast. Check your flight status with your airline before heading to the airport and expect a long day if you hope to get anywhere via air today.

>> The Washington Post notes that people couldn’t even bum rush the grocery stores yesterday to stock up on toilet paper as most were closed for Christmas. Don’t you fear, most stores are open by 8 a.m. this morning – so go stock up on beer, frozen dinners, shovels, and milk while you have the chance!

>> Metro is saying that it plans to to run as regular of a schedule as possible today. They have crews ready to clear the rails. As a reminder, they will close down above ground rail if snowfall hits 8 inches, which looks unlikely at this point but is certainly possible.

>> Not like kids can look forward to a day off tomorrow, as schools are already closed for winter vacation. But what about the Feds? Any chance of the government closing tomorrow? Not looking promising according to current models. Looks like the best chances are for a delayed opening or unscheduled leave/telework. Sorry guys.
