Monday:
The Roots certainly make a case for being the hardest working band in show business right now. They’ve played steadily as the backing band for Jimmy Fallon, released two albums this past year (one with John Legend) and they’re called down to D.C. for every event from Earth Day to the Rally for Sanity. Apparently, they can’t get enough of the District as they’re down for another two night stint at the 9:30 Club. Apparently, we can’t get enough of this quintessential hip-hop band, either. But as we mentioned in About Tonight, both shows are sold out, so Craigslist is your best bet. 9 p.m.
Tuesday:
Local natives Janel & Anthony are a cello and guitar duo that have added fantastic touches to anyone with whom they’ve collaborated but are a special brand of mesmerizing when they play their own songs. Too off-center to be either classical, folk or jazz compositions, Janel & Anthony’s experimentalism is a must-see event. They’ll be at Iota. $12, 8:30 p.m.
