New mayor Vince Gray’s inaugural ball, featuring the aural stylings of go-go maestro Chuck Brown among others, will take place this Sunday — and you can crash the party. Free tickets for the ball are available today, tomorrow and Thursday, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. inside Room 145 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. There are 7,500 tickets available to the public and a 2 ticket maximum per person — you’ll need to show valid D.C. identification to claim tickets.

The ball will be held in the lower level exhibit halls at the Convention Center and begins at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Brown isn’t the only Grammy nominee who will take the stage this Sunday — Raheem DeVaughn will also be performing some of his smooth, patented R&B cuts. The ball will also feature a cash bar and free food (or so we’re told).

You can see a complete schedule of the day’s events here — the swearing-in of Gray, Councilmembers and Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners, which starts at 10 a.m., does not require tickets.
