Pop quiz, hotshot: you’re the store clerk at a Manassas, Virginia convenience store. You’re minding your own business on a Tuesday morning, when all of the sudden, a guy busts in with a stick bigger than you and starts swinging wildly. What do you do? What do you do?
Well, if you’re Jugal Uppal, you grab a ball peen hammer and try to avoid getting hit by the crazy dude swinging a huge piece of wood. Police in Manassas — who I’m sure were just as befuddled about the crime as we are — plan to charge a man who was filmed swinging the wood in the video to your right, one of the craziest pieces of surveillance tape we’ve seen in some time, with armed robbery. To his credit, Uppal tried to grab the stick out of the robber’s hand when he tired of knocking things off the front counter and hopped over it, but couldn’t hold on and get hit several times in the face. Uppal will reportedly be fine.
Police are still looking for the suspect, who was lucky he didn’t try to pull this stunt in Woodbridge. Perhaps the cops should check out the local kendo stick supplier?
