UPDATE: As of 2:05 p.m., the package was deemed non-hazardous by the Metropolitan Police Department.
D.C. authorities responded this afternoon to a report of a suspicious package at 3370 V Street NE — near the V Street Annex Post Office where two packages were found and investigated on Friday. According to D.C. Fire and EMS spokesperson Pete Piringer, fire crews responded to the area shortly before 1 p.m. and the location has been cordoned off. The Post is reporting that a call for a suspicious package came into 911 around 12:10 p.m. this afternoon. No injuries have yet been reported.
There is actually still some confusion about whether or not the suspicious package’s location is actually part of the post office where two suspicious packages were found on Friday or a seperate facility — the Post cites U.S. Postal Service sources who say it is not part of the post office, while NBCWashington.com and other outlets report that it is.
