The field of candidates in the upcoming April special election to permanently fill the seat vacated by D.C. Council Chair Kwame Brown sure is getting crowded. Interim Councilmember Sekou Biddle, and his closest competitor Vince Orange, have already said they will run for the seat, while several other prominent local Democrats are also likely to join the fray. Former Fenty coordinator Josh Lopez is gathering signatures. Ex-DDOT Director Gabe Klein has said he’s thought about it. There’s a grassroots movement to draft Bryan Weaver. So while we hadn’t actually thought about the possibility, I suppose it wasn’t completely ridiculous for City Paper’s Alan Suderman to reach out to Peaceaholics founder and noted debater Ron Moten to see if he was interested in running. (Admit it: the idea of Councilmember Ron Moten chasing around Mayor Vince Gray like he did last summer is kind of hilarious.)

Alas, Moten told Suderman that he “thought about” running, “but nah.” Too bad: Stevie Wonder would have probably written a much-better campaign song than Moten’s Fenty-related efforts.
