We couldn’t help but notice this little nugget in Mike DeBonis’ must-read daily politics roundup this morning: according to McClatchy, cable channel TLC is planning on a TV movie which about the Chandra Levy murder. Somehow, it sounds even more low-brow than one would imagine such a production to be.

The program, tentatively called “The Chandra Levy Project” (because nothing sums up a story of a brutal murder and a years-long investigation into it than a reality show-esque title) for which the cable station has reportedly been “laying the foundation for several months,” will partially film in Washington and include actors portraying all the major players of the case, like former Congressman Gary Condit and Levy’s killer Ingmar Guandique. More details from the McClatchy report:

It could not be determined Friday who, if anyone, has been cast to portray Levy or Condit. In some cases, though, the producers have tipped their hand about how the show might look. For instance, producers last month were seeking a specific type of actress to portray an attorney named Christy Wiegand.

“She is tall and blond … and an avid jogger. She becomes extremely emotional and MUST be stage stunt certified,” the online casting call states.

The stunt experience requirement means the docudrama will include a reenactment of the day Guandique attacked Wiegand while she was jogging in Rock Creek Park. Wiegand testified that Guandique jumped her, causing them to tumble into a ravine where they struggled until she broke free.

Wow. You stay classy, TLC! One wonders if the producers will actually have the gall to try to locate the exact spot that Wiegand was assaulted in order to really capture the moment.
