TUESDAY
The Concretes have been churning out adorably excellent Swedish pop since the mid-’90s and seem to show no signs of slowing down or being any less adorable. All eight of them will be at the Rock and Roll Hotel with Hooray for Earth. $14, 8:30 p.m.
>> Iota: Jolie Holland, Kyp Malone. $12, 8:30 p.m.
>> U Street Music Hall: Matthew Dear (check out our interview), Outputmessage, Alvin Risk. $12, 8:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY
Well this is a first…we’ve got nothing. This may be for the best considering the impending THUNDERSNOW! Apparently, the new Destroyer album is good, if you are in desperate need of a recommendation.
THURSDAY
This is a good night to get in touch with your wildly experimental side at the Velvet Lounge. Guitarist Chris Grier and drummer Scott Verrastro (yes, the one who used to book the bands), aka Ultimate Vag will be performing with guitarist Rat Bastard (who performed with Grier at the Sonic Circuits Festival a couple of years ago). Improvisational quartet The Plums will be opening. Bring an open mind and earplugs. $7, 9:00 p.m.
>> Black Cat: Twin Tigers, Tennis System, Thee Lolitas. $10, 8:30 p.m.
