  • We’re willing to wager that most of you are reading this a) from your office, where you’re trying to wait out the ungodly traffic; b) from your home, since you made the wise decision to abandon ship early enough to beat the crowds; or, most depressingly, c) from your vehicle on a mobile phone as you sit parked in an unending mass of metal congestion. • Mayor Vince Gray has an addiction to Reese’s peanut butter cups: Doesn’t matter how many you put in front of me, I’ll eat every one of them.”
  • Post sports columnist Mike Wise says the state of sports in the District is weak: “Seven years ago, I took office amid the hope of not only Joe Gibbs’s return to Washington but also baseball’s. So much hope was on the horizon. … And seven years later, again with a few exceptions, we are still losers.”

  • Mayor Gray reminded the Council this morning about this year’s city government furlough days: President’s Day, Emancipation Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day.
  • You can’t argue that the District’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs doesn’t know its audience.
  • Hmm, I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that this bill probably won’t pass.
  • The Target is out of shovels. Of course.
