Indie rock power couple: Wavves’ Nathan Williams and Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino

MONDAY

Not since the days of Evan and Juliana has an alternative-minded couple made so many, er…headlines. The lovebirds in question are Wavves’ Nathan Williams and Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, who are once again joining forces (remember this?) for the MTV and Spin Magazine sponsored “Summer is Forever” tour, a move that makes a lot of sense considering Williams’ inability to stay out of trouble when left unattended. No Joy will kick off a reverb-soaked evening at the 9:30 Club. 6:30 p.m. $20.

After briefly getting the ol’ band back together, indie-rock über-weirdo Tim Kinsella is back at it with Joan of Arc, having recently collected enough scratch to record a new album with Steve Albini. With Pillars and Tongues at the Black Cat Backstage. 9:00 p.m. $12.

TUESDAY

Since breaking out in 2006 with his album Night Ripper, Girl Talk’s shows have become synonymous with neon headbands and American Apparel one-pieces — sweaty, booze-filled events where 20-somethings stop looking at their phones and exercise their Dionysian impulses. The man behind the madness is Gregg Gillis, who gamely flails around his laptop re-tooling his remixes in real time alongside the unwashed masses. Penguin Prison opens. At the 9:30 Club. 7:00 p.m. Sold out.

>>Rock and Roll Hotel: The Radio Dept., Young Prisms. 8:30 p.m. $14.

>>D.A.R. Constitution Hall: Robert Plant and the Band of Joy, North Mississippi Allstars. 8:00 p.m. $64.25.
