Photo by FlipMode79.Morning, Washington. Ready for your taste of spring weekend? I know I am. We’re going to have a relative warm snap for the next 5 days or so, enjoy the warm up. It will probably be nice for those braving the Cupid’s Undie Run today.
>> Ashley Turton, the lobbyist who died in a strange accident in her Capitol Hill garage January – in fact died in an accident. Her strange death was the subject of many conspiracy theories, but the autopsy lists her cause of death as “inhalation of products of combustion and thermal burns.” Turton, who died early on a Monday morning, was intoxicated at the time of her death.
>> The two students who had a DMT lab in a Georgetown dorm room have plead guilty to charges of manufacturing the illegal drug. Their lawyers and prosecutors have agreed to a deal where defendants will serve a six-month suspended jail sentence, three years of probation, and 200 hours of community service. This won’t be final until the judge agrees or disagrees to the proposal during a March 18 sentencing date. The students were apparently arrested before they were able to complete their first batch of the drug and didn’t even have a chance to consume it.
>> It’s the weekend and you know what that means: Metro track work. This weekend the Red and Blue lines will be affected. You should just avoid the Red line if possible, because between repairs at Shady Grove, Twinbrook, Takoma and Forest Glen and trains departing Shady Grove and Glenmont every 24 minutes… just, yeah, stay away. With the Blue line, those traveling between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road should add 30 minutes to their travel time.
>> If that weren’t enough to discourage you to use public transportation this weekend, Metro buses will also be re-routed because of the Cupid Undie Run today and the Valentine’s 5K tomorrow. The re-routes will be in D.C. and Arlington. And if you wanted to drive… there will also be associated road closures for both races.
