Everyone’s still trying to sort out what precisely happened this morning which led to former mayoral candidate Sulaimon Brown being led out of a D.C. government office by police. (On the plus side, the whole story gives us one dandy excuse to run this image of Brown photobombing the hell out of President Obama.) Here’s what we know for sure: the Gray administration has confirmed that Brown was indeed escorted by police out of the Department of Health Care Finance offices at 899 North Capitol Street NE this morning and is on “administrative leave”…but that’s pretty much it. But there sure are some intriguing puzzle pieces to sift through so far!

The Washington Post’s Nikita Stewart has an anonymous police source who tells her that Brown, upon being informed he’d be losing his $110,000 per year job, “became disorderly and made some statements that gave some people concern.” Meanwhile, Alan Suderman — who broke both the story and City Paper’s servers this morning — provides a little more beef.

Sources tell LL the decision to “begin proceedings” to separate Brown from his $110,000-a-year District government job came from the administrative offices of the Health Care Finance Department. … LL spoke with [the Department’s director, Wayne] Turnage, who could not provide many details, citing personnel laws. “I met with Sulaimon Brown this morning to discuss his future at DHCF,” Turnage says. He adds that Brown is on “administrative leave,” but will not comment beyond that.

At this point, we’re all just waiting to hear something official from the Gray administration — the Mayor, however, appears to be dodging the press. Stay tuned.
