Fun Facts of the Week: In case you missed our post earlier, we’re officially now “One City.” And you ANCs — shovel my walk! No really, it’s the law.

• Act 19-16, “One City Service and Response Training Emergency Act of 2011”: This legislation requires the mayor to outline a training plan for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners so that they can assist in the mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery of emergency situations. On top of the usual emergencies ANCs would be charged with helping with, our local neighborhood reps would have to be ready to “properly respond to snow emergencies and down, or damaged, power lines.” So our ANCs will have to shovel our walks and do the job Pepco doesn’t? Sweet!
