I’d argue that any wishing for spring in the nation’s capital is wildly premature until three milestones are met: the opening of spring training, the announcement of the peak cherry blossom bloom, and, of course, the online rush to snag tickets to the annual parade of adorability and occasional terror which is the White House Easter Egg Roll.

The White House first handed out admission to the annual event online in 2009; after a rough first go of it, they switched over to a lottery system, available to anyone from around the country willing to enter. This year, entries will be accepted at this site between March 10 at 12:01 a.m. and March 13 at 11:59 p.m. Of course, if you don’t have a kid 12 or younger, you’ll find it tough to get into the event.

The Roll will take place on Monday, April 25, and features a Michelle Obama-approved theme — just like last year — of “Get Up and Go!”
