MOVIES: The Library of Congress is celebrating movies from decades past that were recognized at the Oscars for their musical scores. For each of the movies in this film series, shown in the LOC’s Mary Pickford Theater (3rd Floor, James Madison Building, Independence Avenue between 1st and 2nd Streets), the evening will begin with a short presentation on the featured composer. The first film in the series, screened tonight, will be the 1949 film The Heiress, which won the Best Dramatic Score Oscar thanks to Aaron Copland. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. No reservations or tickets required. Free.
