FOOD & DRINK: Washington Wine Academy’s DC School of Beer (1201 South Eads, Suite 400, Arlington) is offering a Brewmaster series of classes to teach you about each ingredient of the brewing process. Don’t worry if you missed the March 15th class on hops; tonight, you can dive right into the world of barley by sampling six beers that showcase the ingredient. 7:15 p.m. $58.

TALK: Jodi Picoult, author of Nineteen Minutes, Change Of Heart and My Sister’s Keeper (which was made into a movie in 2009), talks about her new novel, Sing You Home, about a same-sex couple trying to have a baby, at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue (600 I Street NW). Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 and include a copy of the book.
