Thursday:
>> Celebrating its second anniversary, “Afrobeat 4 Ya Soul” is set to take place at Bossa with DJs Underdog and Cam Jus on the turntables and live bands Heteru and Foknbois. $5. 9 p.m.

Friday:
>> “Arts, Beats & Lyrics” brings the works of 50 artists and performances by DJs and MCs all under the Andrew Mellon Auditorium‘s roof. Slated to perform are Kendrick Lamar, DJ Lord, DiBiase x ALIen, Protectors of the Monster, 2-Tone Jones and Jerome Baker III. Free with RSVP (must be 21). 7 p.m.

>> Born in D.C., Ryan Leslie was a Harvard grad by 19, but wound up following his love of music to a Grammy nomination earlier this year. The singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist/smart guy will be at The Park as a part of the “Park Unplugged” series. Free with RSVP. 7 p.m.

>> Known for hits like “Children’s Story” and “Hey Young World,” Slick Rick will be performing at Liv. Wes Felton is hosting with Von and DJ Quartermaine also featured on the bill. $20 in advance / $25 at the door. 8 p.m.

>> “Electrafrique” brings DJs Underdog, Kimozaki, i:Wah and Cortega to Sultra Lounge. $5. 10 p.m.

>> It’s the first Friday of the month, which means DJ Nitekrawler’s “Moneytown” is going down with ample supplies of funk and soul at Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar. In accordance with April Fool’s Day, and to add an air of mystery, Nitekrawler is keeping his guest DJ’s identity a secret. Free. 10 p.m.

>> As a part of the Forward DC Festival, there will be a showcase of house music DJs at The Warehouse (411 New York Avenue NE) including Mike Huckaby, Gene Hunt and Sam Burns, among others. $10 in advance / $20 at the door. 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> It’s been a little while, but “Sol Power” returns to the Eighteenth Street Lounge with its emphasis on funky music from Brazil, west Africa and beyond. Joining the Sol Power Allstars as a part of the Forward DC Festival will be the ForQuarters Collective. $10. 9:30 p.m.

Sunday:
>> The aforementioned Forward DC Festival wraps up with a party at The Yards Park (10 Water Street SE) with a slew of artists performing. Free. 11 a.m.
