FOOD & DRINK: The Grand Sushi Event at National Geographic Live (1600 M Street NW) will feature a seven-course meal of sustainable sushi prepared by Genji Sushi paired with sake and wine, as well as a talk by Casson Trenor, author and founder of Tataki Sushi Bar in San Francisco. 7 p.m. Tickets: $100.

JAZZ: The Smithsonian pays tribute to Women in Jazz, as a part of Jazz Appreciation Month at Artisphere (1101 Wilson Blvd., Arlington). Attend to hear a discussion on Jazz and Civil Rights (7-8 p.m.), watch clips from the documentary Girls in the Band (8:20-8:30 p.m.), and swing dance to live music from the Leigh Pilzer/Jen Krupa Quintet (8:30-11 p.m.).
