Loose Lips was first to the news this afternoon that Rochelle Webb, the acting Department of Employment Services Director who recently made headlines for living on the taxpayer dime at the W Hotel for a month and having a city-provided chauffeur during that same period, has been fired. Mike DeBonis reports that Webb “wasn’t playing well with others” inside the government and that, combined with the hotel/driver story and her son’s recent resignation from an political appointment, was apparently enough for her to be cut loose. If you’ll recall, Webb had it out with Councilmember Marion Barry back in February over the fact that her DOES “executive committee” was compromised of all females; she was expected to revamp operations at DOES, which, among other responsibilities, handles the city’s oft-troubled Summer Youth Employment Program.
