- A Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments headcount shows a 9.5 percent increase in the number of homeless families in the D.C. region since 2007.
- A George Washington student was found dead inside an on-campus residence hall this afternoon.
- Only 23 percent of the nonresident D.C. Public School students identified by the district were assessed nonresident tuition, reports Bill Turque — but not a single one actually paid it.
- More evidence that Metro really needs to get 1000 Series rail cars off the tracks: “A [1000 Series] Metro train was traveling no more than 19 mph when it crashed into a stopped train in a rail yard and destroyed at least three rail cars” in November 2009.
- The District is fighting a motion which would require them to search through a dump in Richmond for the body of Latisha Frazier, who dissappeared last August.
- Metro Transit Police are conducting “a major, high-visibility crime prevention and anti-terrorism event” inside 15 Prince George’s County stations between 4 and 7 p.m. this evening.
- Former Department of Employment Services director Rochelle Webb tells the Washington Times that she was let go after she had discovered that a jobs program which was being funded inappropriately with workers’ compensation funds.
