Finally, visual evidence that not every physical altercation on the Metro goes unhandled by the Metro Transit Police!
Metro spokesperson Ron Holzer tells DCist that the incident in the above clip took place some time late last year. “Metro Transit Police officers who were riding in the last car of that train saw a group of people gathering on the car in the video,” said Holzer. “They responded and found Metro employees separating the people. Both parties were separated. The women did not wish to pursue charges. The man sought alternate transportation. The women continued riding on the train.”
Unsuck DC Metro, who originally posted the video, compared the incident to the New York spaghetti subway spat, though we have to admit that this situation seems far less ripe for humor than that altercation.
Holzer didn’t tell us where the altercation took place, and it’s impossible to determine from the clip, though it does look like a larger station with two perpendicular tracks like L’Enfant Plaza. Metro beefed up patrols at that particular station after a man was beaten on the platform inside that station in January, which appears to have taken place after this incident occurred.
