Morning Washington. Today might not be the nicest Spring day ever, but with warmer temperatures and a chance of a nice afternoon – we’re certainly doing better than we did last Saturday, or the Saturday before that for that matter. With Easter weekend, the city might feel a bit empty this weekend anyway – a perfect excuse to take advantage of some of the more popular spots.

>> In a pretty sudden move, D.C. will be charging for $45 each for new trash and recycling carts as part of their efforts to close 2011 budget holes. Wanted to get one before the new pricing goes into effect? You only have until Monday.

>> Be aware, there are some roads closed downtown for the Race to Stop Silence 8K: Pennsylvania Avenue NW, between 12th and 14th streets, closed starting at 5 a.m., 13th Street NW, between Pennsylvania Avenue and E Street is closed. Also expect some closures on Constitution Avenue. Streets should be reopened by noon.

>> Speaking of closures, here’s your weekly Metro weekend track work report: stay away from the Red and Blue lines. The Van Dorn metro station will be closed to replace rail switches – trains will terminate in between the stop – except for a shuttle train that will operate between Franconia-Springfield and King Street every 30 minutes. Blue line trains will also share tracks between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road-Seat Pleasant. For the Red line: share tracking between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Twinbrook and New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U and Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metrorail.
