Well, now this is just getting plain embarrassing for the Metropolitan Police Department. Despite the fact that the department’s chief, Cathy Lanier, said last Friday that she was “100 percent confident the proper procedure was not followed for a reimbursable detail,” the Examiner’s Freeman Klopott reports that the New York Rangers received similar treatment on Saturday as they traveled to the Verizon Center for a playoff game against the Capitals. The Rangers apparently paid for a police detail to shuttle the team from their hotel to the arena, and then from the arena to Union Station after the game was over.

Not only that, but Klopott also gets his hands on an email in which the commander of MPD’s department’s special operation division, Hilton Burton, wrote that the media fallout over the Sheen detail “is why we should not do escorts for any and every body.”
