May brings about many things. May flowers. Thoughtful but occasionally frantic Mother’s Day plans. Celebratory hurrahs from graduating college students. But is there a way to explore something beyond the predictable annual happenings in May? You bet. Check out local Cultural Tourism DC’s Passport DC, an annual month-long celebration of international art and culture that makes the month of May in DC nothing less than unforgettable.
Passport DC invites visitors and residents into DC’s international community through street festivals, embassy events, special performances, and more. With all events open to the public for free or low cost, Passport DC is the prime opportunity to explore the many cultures located in this global city. This year’s main events include: Short Cut to Europe: European Union Embassies’ Open House on May 7; Around the World Embassy Tour on May 14; National Asian Heritage Festival: Fiesta Asia Street Fair on May 21; and Meridian International Children’s Festival also on May 21. The largest event, the Around the World Embassy Tour, allows participants to travel the world when more than 30 embassies open their doors to the public. Cultural Tourism DC invites you to experience the food, dance, fashion, art, and music represented across five continents at the fourth annual Around the World Embassy Tour.
