Photo by Renee Peres.UPDATE: The package was cleared by police shortly before noon.
According to DCist tipsters, the entrance to the U Street Metro station at 10th and U Street NW has been closed off due to a suspicious package found somewhere around the station. Witnesses tell DCist that it “looks like” employees of the CVS on the corner are exiting the building. U Street is currently blocked off to traffic between 11th Street and Vermont Avenue.
There hasn’t been any disruption alerts from either D.C. Fire and EMS or WMATA at this point, but it looks like you’ll probably need to use the station’s other entrance at 13th and U Streets for the time being. Obviously, we’ll keep an eye on the situation as it develops.
