Photo by Kevin H..Transit nerds, today is National Train Day! Amtrak celebrated its 40 year anniversary last week, and one of the biggest events in the nation is right here, in our nation’s capital.
Union Station is hosting a meet and greet with Amtrak’s national spokesperson; 40th anniversary “Exhibit Train;” exhibits on the B&O Railroad, the Civil War, and dining on trains; displays of Amtrak high-speed rail, model trains, and train equipment; K-9 unit demonstrations; a kid’s depot; and live entertainment. Sounds like it will be a big hit for the kids, or just the adults who have a child-like love for trains.
The event, free of course, will run until 4 p.m. today, so go celebrate our nation’s rails at Union Station or just take a train in honor of National Train Day.
