After 2009’s emotionally crushing Hospice, The Antlers have lightened the mood on their new album Burst Apart. But they still make sweeping rock songs that sound huge compared to the three people making the music. Make sure to get there early to catch Little Scream, the moniker of Laurel Sprengelmeyer, and her equally explosive brand of indie rock from her debut The Golden Record. Black Cat, $15, 8 p.m.

“Kill people. Burn shit. Fuck school.” Those are are just a few of the outlandish things you’ll likely hear Wednesday night at the Rock and Roll Hotel. The oft-blogged rap collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All will be making their second appearance in the District. Sold out, 8 p.m.
If you didn’t get tickets to the Odd Future show, you can still spend your evening with “the nicest guy in indie rock,” John Vanderslice, at the Black Cat. The equally nice and talented Damien Jurado opens. $15, 9 p.m.

tUnE-yArDs, the moniker of poly-pop warrior Merrill Garbus, has released one of the best albums of 2011 with w h o k i l l. Given the amount of good press and glowing live reviews, this will be one of the last times to see her in a place as intimate as the Red Palace. Sold out. 8:00 p.m.

After parting ways with the Drive-By Truckers in 2007, Jason Isbell has decided to go in a somewhat different direction than his former southern rock bandmates. Along with the 400 Unite, Isbell will bring country-tinged rockers inspired by his home state of Alabama to the Rock and Roll Hotel. $18, 6 p.m.

If you didn’t get enough food on Saturday at the DC 101 Chili Cookoff, the 9:30 Club is hosting their annual day of food and music, Soundbites in which all the proceeds go to D.C. Central Kitchen. The festival will feature food from 25 local restaurants, five food trucks and bands Trouble Funk, The Pietasters, Ra Ra Rasputin and DJ lil’e. $40, 5 p.m.
