Photo by Vileinist.Good morning, D.C. Guess we didn’t get raptured, huh. Looks like we’ll be getting a taste of summer today with temperatures in the high 80s and a chance of thunderstorms later in the day.
>> The officer who was shot yesterday morning on Crittenden Street NE, was shot by the teenager who was also wounded. MPD officers responded to a report of an armed teenage male early Saturday morning on the porch of a home. Gunfire was exchanged after the suspect, 15, refused to drop the weapon. The officer is in stable condition.
>> A 48-year-old man was found stabbed to death Friday afternoon in 400 block of Newcomb Street SE. George White was found unconscious and was later pronounced dead from stab wounds.
>> An apparent gas explosion caused a fire at a high-rise senior building in Ballston Saturday morning. One person was flown to a burn center after the explosion at The Carlin apartments at 4300 N. Carlin Springs Road. There were no other injuries reported.
About 100 residents were temporarily displaced while authorities checked the structural integrity of the building.
