Photo by Jason Allen Photo.Metro confirms that a person was struck by a train on the Blue and Orange Line tracks at Metro Center this afternoon. According to reports, the individual was on the tracks purposefully — D.C. Fire and EMS arrived at the station around 1:15 to extricate the individual from underneath the train. (Twitter user @russ_walker tweets that a Metro operator announced that the individual was a “jumper.”) The man was successfully removed from the tracks a few minutes ago, and was being evaluated on the scene by emergency medical personnel.
Trains have been single tracking between the McPherson Square and Federal Triangle stations for about the last 30 minutes as a result of the incident.
