You know, if it’s going to continue to be this hot outside, the least we’re entitled to is a evening reprieve featuring blankets, friends, popsicles and some locally-sourced rock ‘n roll. Luckily, Fort Reno has come to our rescue — the venerable yearly festival will kick off its summer slate on June 27.

According to this post by organizer Amanda MacKaye on the festival’s Facebook page, local punk outfits Beasts of No Nation, Railsplitter, and Valley Tours will kick things off that Monday. As per tradition, Fort Reno shows will run between 7 and 9:30 p.m. sharp every Monday and Thursday through August. The remainder of the schedule will be released on the Fort Reno website “soon.”

If you’ve never had the pleasure of kicking back with some ice cream and enjoying the aural pleasure at Fort Reno Park, keep in mind: don’t bring booze, drugs or glass bottles, leash your pets, and be sure to throw the friendly folks who volunteer so much of their time to put it all together a couple bucks for their effort.
