MOVIE: The Room has gained a cult following for being one of the most awesomely terrible movies ever made. Experience it like never before at a live reading and performance of The Room with director/star Tommy Wiseau and actor Greg Sestero at AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring). It’ll probably be unforgettable. Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (5 p.m.). $20.
>> Just when we thought the 2011 D.C. Outdoor Film Festival Roundup was complete, another one comes along. See Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy and Dina Merrill in the 1957 film Desk Set at Hillwood Museum’s (4155 Linnean Avenue NW) Divas Under the Stars event. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., the movie begins at 8:30 p.m. $15 general public, $10 college students and children 6 to 18 years old.

TALK: Chef José Andrés discusses “food and cooking, science and cooking, and why food is the solution to many of the challenges we face as a nation,” then signs copies of his book Made in Spain: Spanish Dishes for the American Kitchen at the National Archives William G. McGowan Theater (700 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) tonight. This event is part of the America Eats series, connected to the new What’s Cooking, Uncle Sam? exhibit. 7 p.m. Free.
PARTY: Brightest Young Things and Capital Pride team up for the Somewhere… rainbow themed party (rainbow attire encouraged!) at the Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) tonight. There will be a moonbounce, movies, food, drink and music from DJs Ultra Nate, Lauren Flax, and others. 9 p.m. $20, or $60 VIP.
MUSIC: Thao & Mirah perform together tonight at the Black Cat (1811 14th Street NW), and are donating $1 from each ticket to D.C. abuse prevention programs. Bobby and Led to Sea also perform. 9 p.m. $19.

THEATER: The Source Festival (1835 14th Street NW) begins tonight and runs through July 3rd, showing 25 works over the course of the run. Tonight, see Lost and Found, a collection of 6 ten-minute plays. 8 p.m. $10-$20, $32 VIP, $55 four-play package, $125 all access pass.
COMEDY: Comedy band Axis of Awesome performs “original comedy songs and pop parodies” this Friday and Saturday at the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington). $22.

PARADE: Take to the streets for the Capital Pride Parade, which starts in Dupont and winds its way through Northwest (see the full route here). 5:30-8:30 p.m.
FOOD & DRINK: The Montana State Society serves up Rocky Monuntain Oysters (also known as deep fried calves’ testicles) at the 7th Annual Testicle Festival this Saturday at the Arlington American Legion (3445 N. Washington Boulevard, Arlington). 6-10 p.m. Tickets: $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
>> Hang on the patio, watch surfing movies inside and enjoy summer food (like fish tacos, hot dogs, boardwalk fries and blue crab hushpuppies), while you wash it all down with unlimited wine at EatBar’s (2761 Washington Boulevard, Arlington) Beach Blanket Bash this Saturday. Beach apparel (from Hawaiian shirts to sarongs) are encouraged. 12-3 p.m. $25.
BIKES: BikeFest, a celebration and fundraiser for the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, will feature carnival-cycle games, food and drink, live music, dancing and more at the Crystal City Shops (1750 Crystal Drive, Arlington). 8 p.m.-midnight. $45.
FITNESS: Pry yourself away from the couch and the air conditioner to celebrate National Get Outdoors Day at Kingman Island (entrance at 575 Oklahoma Avenue NE, see directions). There will be a bunch of outdoorsy activities, including fishing, mountain biking, canoeing and rock climbing. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Free.
COMEDY: Chelsea Handler, host of Chelsea Lately, brings her biting jokes and eviscerating standup to DAR Constitution Hall (1776 D Street NW). Brad Wollack, Josh Wolf and Heather McDonald, regulars on her show, also take the stage. 8 p.m. $63.50 and up.
TALK: Nerd Nite is back at DC9 (1940 9th Street NW). Come out Saturday and learn about the demise of the world’s frogs, health care and the terminally ill and the sex lives of pandas! 6:30 p.m. $10.
MUSIC: It’s a night of indie folk awesomeness at Wolf Trap (1645 Trap Road, Vienna) with Bright Eyes, M. Ward and Dawes. Pack a picnic (alcohol is allowed), and hit the grass. 7 p.m. $32 seats, $28 lawn.

SPORTS: The DC Lady Arm Wrestler’s League converges on the American Legion Post 8 on Capitol Hill (224 D Street SE) to roll up their sleeves, compete for the Golden Bicep and raise money for N Street Villagethree charities (House of Ruth, the Service Women’s Action Network and the Fisher House Foundation). 7:30 p.m. $5.
SUNDAY:
SHOP: Check out the Washington Shakespeare Company’s Theater Yard Sale at the Clark Street Playhouse (601 S Clark Street, Arlington) to pick up costumes, props, furniture, artwork, appliances, construction tools, building materials and more. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.
JAZZ: The DC Jazz Festival presents Jazz on the National Mall this Sunday. Come see Toby Foyeh & Orchestra Africa, Claudia Acuña Quintet, Frédéric Yonnet, Roy Hargrove’s RH Factor and the Eddie Palmieri All-Star Salsa Orchestra perform for free. 1:00-6:20 p.m. Check out our DCJF guide for other jazz events happening this weekend.
