The woman who created a chaotic scene at the Rockville Metrorail station this morning was reportedly aiming to set off an explosion at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockville. WJLA reports that the unidentified woman — who was arrested, detained for questioning and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation — made comments about bombing the church while on the train. According to the Washington Post, one witness also overheard the woman threatening to “visit the tomb at Rockville station.” WAMU reports that another witness heard the woman claim “everybody on this train’s going to die.”

The Rockville station was closed for about two hours during this morning’s rush; officials found no evidence of an explosive device, and service has returned to normal along the Red Line.
