>> After coming up in the D.C. music scene, bassist/vocalist Meshell Ndegeocello has had an illustrious career as a solo artist. During this hometown performance at The State Theatre, she’ll be paying homage to one of her favorite artists, Prince, by performing some of her favorite tunes of The Purple One. $26 in advance / $31 at the door. 7:00 p.m.

>> L.A.-based People Under the Stairs are an underground hip-hop staple. They’ll be at the Rock and Roll Hotel along with Count Bass D. $15. 8 p.m.
