Photo by furcafe.Good morning, Washington. If what went down in Vancouver last night is any indication, I suppose we should be counting our blessings that the Capitals meekly bowed out in the semifinals of the Stanley Cup playoffs, eh? As a region which has a bit of a reputation for getting slightly out of hand when it comes to matters of sporting rivalry, we have to say we’re proud that at least we’ve never fired a firework into anyone’s groin. (That we know of.)
Why Graham?: Loose Lips attempts to answer that question in his column today, noting that federal investigators likely targeted Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham during a bribery sting of his chief of staff Ted Loza because “the Ethiopian conspirators they were eavesdropping on believed they could bribe” him. Based on federal evidence, Alan Suderman concludes, “there’s no evidence of criminal action on Graham’s part—as he would be the first to point out. But the federal filings still raise serious questions about Graham’s judgment and leadership skills as an elected official.”
Rumors of This Story’s Demise May Have Been Premature: Sulaimon Brown is telling the media that he has no plans to cooperate with a subpoena handed down by the D.C. Council during his wild testimony. The new subpoena requests phone and email records which would corroborate Brown’s testimony about his communication with the Gray administration. Yesterday was the deadline for Brown to hand over documents.

It’s a big couple of years for airports around these parts — Dulles will celebrate its 50th birthday next year.
