Photo by Kevin H.At a press conference held moments ago, the Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed that there were “no significant explosive materials” inside a suspicious vehicle found near the Pentagon this morning. The man who has been brought into custody in connection with the investigation acted alone according to the FBI, and had no explosives in his possession, only “unusual items.” Authorities also revealed that the detained man had also fled from police in some way.
The massive road closures due to the investigation, which has caused enormous traffic backups around Arlington during this morning’s rush hour, were described by the FBI as “due diligence.”
“We’re going to get these roadways reopened pretty soon,” said Sgt. David Schlosser of the U.S. Park Police.
The investigation still remains in the “preliminary stages,” according to authorities.
